- ¾ cup fresh coconut
- 2 tablespoons roasted chana dal
- ½ cup cumin seeds
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1-2 green chillies
- 1 garlic clove
- Lemon juice or tamarind (optional) to taste
- ¼ cup water
For tempering:
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 red chilli
- A pinch of urad dal
- 5-6 curry leaves
- A pinch of asafoetida
