After the success of Mardaani and Mardaani 2, Rani Mukerji is back with yet another film in the franchise. Mardaani 3 will see Rani Mukerji stepping into the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy once again to fight
against yet another crime in the country. The movie, which was scheduled for a February 27 release, is now coming to theatres on January 30. As the movie is all set to release in theatres in a week, it has also completed the censor process.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC gave a U/A 16+ certificate to the film on January 14, with a runtime of 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 7 seconds. While the certification process has been completed, the film body has asked for some edits and changes. Firstly, the word “bachhi” was replaced with “ladki.” As the scene involved sexual violence, the filmmakers had to provide the actor’s age proof to confirm that she was not a minor.
A scene involving visuals of a girl being slapped was modified. The word “wh**e” was replaced with “trader” in the English subtitles. Words referring to sexual organs were replaced with appropriate language. Similarly, words containing negative references to the Government of India were also asked to be replaced.
The names of certain countries were asked to be deleted from a scene. As requested by the CBFC, the makers submitted a clarification regarding a dialogue made by kidnappers in the film. Lastly, the makers were asked to insert informational text on child and women trafficking.
Mardaani 3 Trailer
The makers of Rani Mukerji’s hard-hitting cop franchise Mardaani have unveiled the trailer of its third instalment, bringing back the actor as the relentless and fearless IPS officer Shivani Shivaji Roy. Staying true to the franchise’s uncompromising tone, Mardaani 3 promises another disturbing, socially relevant narrative that places Shivani at the centre of a race against time. This time, Shivani is seen joining the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and taking charge of a chilling case involving the kidnapping of two young girls.
As Shivani digs deeper into the investigation, the case spirals into something far more sinister. What initially appears to be a trafficking case soon exposes links to a larger beggar mafia, indicating organised crime operating under the guise of helplessness.
