During a chat, Aditya revealed a lesser-known aspect of his career trajectory. He mentioned that he had committed to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani before being approached for Aashiqui 2. Both movies hit theatres in 2013, but it was his involvement in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that set the stage for the opportunity that followed.
He recalled, “I signed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani first. Ayan Mukerji reached out to me for the film. After reading the script, I found it quite compelling and agreed to come on board. While I was filming for YJHD, Mohit Suri came to know that I was part of that project. He even saw some photos from the shoot. That’s when he considered me for Aashiqui 2. So, in a way, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani led me to Aashiqui 2.”
Aashiqui 2 marked a significant turning point in Aditya Roy Kapur’s acting career. Portraying the role of Rahul Jaykar, a talented singer battling his inner demons, especially alcoholism, Aditya delivered a performance that was both emotionally intense and critically acclaimed.
