Several areas of Bengaluru will face a power cut on Wednesday, December 24, as the city’s electricity supply company carries out planned maintenance work. The interruption will affect multiple neighbourhoods
across different zones and is expected to last several hours during the day.
Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has shared details of the shutdown through official notices. People living in the affected areas have been asked to prepare in advance, as electricity will not be available for a large part of the day.
Why The Power Supply Will Be Interrupted
According to BESCOM, the power cut is being undertaken to facilitate quarterly maintenance work at key power stations. One shutdown is related to maintenance at the 66/11 KV Vijayanagara Station, while another is due to work at the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura, and ISRO Layout stations.
The maintenance work is part of routine checks meant to keep the power network running safely and smoothly. BESCOM has stated that these shutdowns are necessary to avoid sudden breakdowns and improve overall service quality.
When The Power Cut Will Take Place
Electricity supply will be disrupted on December 24 between 10 am and 5 pm in areas connected to the Vijayanagara Station. In locations linked to the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura and ISRO Layout stations, the outage will last from 10 am to 4 pm.
Residents are advised to plan their day accordingly and complete important tasks that require electricity before the shutdown begins.

Areas affected due to work at the Vijayanagara Station include Basaveshwaranagara, Vijayanagara, Govinda Rajanagara, Kamakshipalya, RPC Layout, Binny Layout, Prashanthnagara, MC Layout, Marenahalli, Hosahalli, Thimmenahalli, Vinayaka Layout, Kaveripura, Ranganathapura, Syndicate Bank Colony, Nagarabhavi, Siddaiah Puranik Road, KHB Colony, Magadi Main Road, HVR Layout, Agrahara Dasarahalli and nearby areas.

What BESCOM Has Advised Residents
BESCOM has requested residents in the affected areas cooperate during the shutdown and make necessary arrangements in advance. Power supply is expected to be restored soon after the maintenance work is completed.
