As per Variety India, filmmakerAdvait Chandan, who was supposed to direct the film and had spent about seven months developing it, has decided to step away from the project. Sources close to the development informed the portal that while there has been no major dispute, differences in creative approaches towards the project led to Advait’s decision to exit the film. This new development has come as another turbulent chapter for Dostana 2.
Who will replace Janhvi Kapoor in the film?
According to Variety India, the makers were contemplating three names before finalising Sini Shetty for the role. She will be making her acting debut with Dostana 2. She was crowned Miss India World in 2022. The report suggests that she has always aspired to get into acting. Sini is excited to be making her debut with a film backed by such a big banner. The report also states that she has signed another small-budget thriller, though details about the project remain under wraps.

Earlier, Vikrant Massey expressed his excitement about joining a Dharma film. He told Times Now, “I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking about it. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
Lakshya to exit Dostana 2?
A Filmfare report had claimed that Lakshya might step away from Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2. A source told the entertainment portal, “Dostana 2’s cast has not been locked yet. Lakshya might not do the film.” The source added that while Dostana 2 is definitely happening, the cast has not been finalised as of now. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this development.
