O’Romeo
Released in February 2026, Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo became one of Nana Patekar’s final theatrical appearances. The actor played DCP Ismail Khan in the crime drama, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in the lead, alongside Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani and Vikrant Massey. The film was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Patekar’s commitment to the film also made headlines before its release. Bhardwaj revealed that the veteran actor had shot a demanding action sequence despite running a 102-degree fever. According to the director, Patekar insisted on completing the sequence rather than returning home.
Subedaar
Patekar followed O’Romeo with a special appearance in Subedaar, the Suresh Triveni-directed action drama starring Anil Kapoor. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video in March 2026. Patekar played Nana Waghmare, appearing alongside Kapoor, Radhikka Madan, Aditya Rawal, Saurabh Shukla and Mona Singh. Although his part was not a lead role, the appearance marked another collaboration between Patekar and Anil Kapoor, following their memorable association in the Welcome franchise.
Sankalp
Patekar’s screen work in 2026 extended beyond films. He played Kanhaiyalal, a powerful mentor and educator, in Sankalp, a socio-political thriller directed by Prakash Jha. The series, which also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Neeraj Kabi and Kubbra Sait, premiered on Amazon MX Player in March 2026. Its first season comprises 10 episodes, with Patekar appearing throughout the season.
Shakti Shalini
Among Patekar’s final film assignments was Shakti Shalini, the upcoming horror-comedy from Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film stars Aneet Padda in the central role, with Vishal Jethwa, Vineet Kumar Singh and Seema Biswas also part of the cast. Patekar’s character details have largely been kept under wraps. Patekar joined the film’s Mumbai schedule in May 2026. He was photographed on the sets in Mumbai in a distinctive look featuring a black dhoti, angavastram and red turban. Reports reveal his character was connected to mystical practices, although the makers had not revealed his complete role. The film wrapped its final schedule in Mumbai on May 27, with the production having earlier shot extensively across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Patekar’s participation in this schedule makes Shakti Shalini one of the last publicly documented films he worked on. The film is expected to release in 2027.
Meanwhile, Nana Patekar’s last rites and funeral details are yet to be announced. His body has been taken to Goa Medical College for post-mortem following his death on Thursday morning.
