Days after it was reported that Rohit Shetty has landed in legal trouble over alleged ‘unauthorised’ use of police stickers on his cars, the filmmaker’s team has now clarified on the matter. On Wednesday,
Shetty’s spokesperson issued a statement and revealed that the stickers were placed on cars after the firing incident at the filmmaker’s Mumbai residence last year. However, it has now been discontinued.
“Following the firing incident at Rohit Shetty’s residence, the police had implemented heightened security measures and provided protection. Identification stickers were placed during the initial phase which have now been discontinued,” the statement read.
“At present, Rohit Shetty continues to remain under police security, with two personnel deployed for his safety, as the matter remains under active surveillance. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Mumbai Police for their steadfast support and cooperation during this challenging period,” it added.
What Is The Controversy?
For the unversed, just a few days back, a report by Mid-Day claimed that Shetty modified ‘at least two of his personal vehicles’ and used police stickers without permission. It was said that the filmmaker was likely to face action for this. “According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as revised in 2019, a ‘Police’ sticker, logo, or sign is not permitted on a private vehicle, as outlined in Section 177,” an RTO official also told the publication.
Rohit Shetty’s House Firing Case
Five rounds of bullets were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence on January 31, 2026. The investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that the vehicle used in the firing was sourced from Pune. Five accused involved in the case were arrested and slapped with MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999).
Later, the Mumbai Crime Branch said that the culprit Subham Lonkar wanted to spread terror in Mumbai and had told the accused that he had to do something big in Mumbai. The accused was in touch with the Lonkar through a single app and Rs 40,000 was transferred to the account of one of the accused by Subham.
