Nani’s The Paradise has finally released on OTT, weeks after its theatrical release. It premiered on Netflix with several changes from its theatrical release. The revised OTT version, which began streaming
on October 22, runs for around 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is nearly 24 minutes shorter than the original theatrical cut, which had a runtime of 2 hours and 54 minutes.
Dhumavathi Dance Cut
One of the biggest changes in the Netflix version is the removal of the Dhumavathi (Sonali Kulkarni) fight sequence, reports Indian Express. The scene became a major talking point after the film’s theatrical release. Many viewers questioned the creative decision, while social media users turned the sequence into memes. The OTT version reportedly removes this portion entirely.
The edit is among the most noticeable changes in the new cut, particularly for viewers who watched the film in theatres.
Violence Reduced And Pacing Tightened
The shorter version also reportedly cuts several scenes featuring graphic violence and sequences that were seen as unnecessary to the story.
The film’s second half drew much of the criticism during its theatrical run. Viewers felt that the narrative lost pace after the interval, with repeated action sequences affecting the overall flow.
As per reports, the latest cut appears to address some of these concerns by trimming portions of the film. However, the central storyline remains the same.
Netflix Version Reportedly Improves VFX
The visual effects have also reportedly received attention in the OTT release. Some shots are said to feature improved graphics compared with the theatrical version.
During the cinema run, certain effects-heavy sequences attracted criticism from viewers who expected stronger visuals from a film of this scale. The reported changes aim to improve the viewing experience in these portions.
Another small adjustment concerns the end credits. While some theatrical viewers complained that the credits moved too quickly to read, the Netflix version reportedly displays them at a slower pace.
How Did The Paradise Perform In Theatres?
Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, The Paradise stars Nani alongside Kayadu Lohar, Mohan Babu, Sonali Kulkarni, Raghav Juyal and Priyadarshi.
The film reunited Nani and Odela after their earlier collaboration on Dasara, raising expectations among audiences ahead of its release.
According to the figures cited in reports, the film earned around Rs 76 crore worldwide on its opening day. However, collections declined sharply in the following days, and its worldwide theatrical gross eventually reached approximately Rs 173 crore.
Although the film generated interest, its reception was affected by complaints about the second half, repetitive violence and the portrayal of Kayadu Lohar’s character. The Dhumavathi sequence also became a focal point of online criticism.
What Remains Unchanged In The OTT Cut?
Despite the edits, The Paradise retains its main storyline, character performances and overall narrative arc. The changes appear to focus on individual scenes and pacing rather than a major restructuring of the film.
Nani has reportedly been involved in overseeing the revised version, with the changes reflecting several concerns raised during the theatrical run.
The Paradise On OTT
The film became available on Netflix on October 22 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. The platform also offers the film in 4K Dolby Vision.
