Actress Trisha Krishnan turned heads as she arrived for good friend and longtime co-star Thalapathy Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday. The actress, who has shared a long professional
and personal bond with Vijay over the years, looked visibly emotional and happy as she walked into the venue for the historic moment.
Dressed in a stunning turquoise silk saree paired with a cream-coloured blouse, Trisha kept her look elegant and traditional. She accessorised her outfit with a jasmine gajra, wrapped around her hair and wore minimal makeup. Videos and photos of the actress smiling brightly at the ceremony quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Trisha was seen warmly greeting Vijay’s family members at the venue and also met the newly sworn-in Chief Minister’s mother, Shobha Chandrasekhar and sister, Vidya. Fans on social media could not stop talking about how proud Trisha looked during Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony. Many wrote that she looked “genuinely ecstatic” watching her longtime friend take oath as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. Many even called her one of Vijay’s “biggest supporters” during his transition from cinema superstar to political leader. The actress had also made headlines earlier this week after being spotted at Vijay’s Chennai residence as TVK’s election victory became clear.

Vijay, officially known as C. Joseph Vijay, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, marking one of the biggest political shifts in the state’s modern history. Leading his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay emerged as the single largest force in the 2026 Assembly elections with 108 seats, ending nearly six decades of uninterrupted dominance by the DMK and AIADMK. Though TVK initially fell short of the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly, Vijay secured the support of smaller parties and independent MLAs to cross the required number and stake claim to form the government. His swearing-in ceremony drew massive crowds, political leaders, and several film personalities, symbolising the actor’s dramatic transition from Tamil cinema superstar to the state’s Chief Minister.
