Dulquer Salmaan has reacted after his father, Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty, won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his performance in Bramayugam. The honour marks Mammootty’s
fourth National Award, further cementing his status as one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actors. He shared the Best Actor award with Kartik Aaryan, who was recognised for Chandu Champion.
Soon after the winners were announced, Dulquer took to Instagram Stories with a light-hearted post celebrating his father’s latest achievement. Sharing Mammootty’s photo, the Lucky Baskhar actor wrote, “Another one? Yes Pa! It’s like your FOURTH!”
He then jokingly imagined a conversation between the two. “Oh sweet! What about you? Win anything?” “Er No!” “No pressure son! You do you.” He signed off the post with the hashtags, “#Greatest #Of #All #Time #MicDrop.”
Meanwhile, fellow Malayalam superstar Mohanlal also congratulated Mammootty on the milestone. In his message, Mohanlal said he was delighted by Mammootty’s National Award win and extended his wishes to all the winners recognised this year. Kamal Haasan, too, congratulated Mammootty, recalling an old promise in which the actor had once told him he would one day overtake him.

Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal Celebrate Mammootty’s National Award Win
Taking to X, Mohanlal congratulated Mammootty and wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to dear Ichakka on winning the National Award for Best Actor for Bramayugam. This is a moment of immense pride for all of us and a recognition that is truly well deserved.”
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan’s message came with a dose of nostalgia. Looking back at an old conversation with Mammootty, he reminded the actor of a promise he had once made. Kamal wrote, “You once promised me you would overtake me in the number of National Awards. As always, you are a man of your word! Here’s to many more accolades, my friend.”
