Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on his next movie, Ramayana. In the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, the actor will be seen playing the role of lord Ram. However, for a long time now, a section of social
media users has been questioning Ranbir’s casting for the film. Why? Because of his past controversies. While these people claim that Ranbir isn’t suitable for a divine role, spiritual leader Sadhguru has now come out in the actor’s support.
During a recent conversation with the producer of the film, Namit Malhotra, Sadhguru addressed the controversy and called the backlash against Ranbir Kapoor “unfair”. “People are pulling out things from the past and asking how Ranbir Kapoor could play Shri Rama in Ramayana,” Namit said.
Responding to this, Sadhguru added, “It’s an unfair judgment of an actor because he acted in some way in the past. You can’t expect him to become Ram. Tomorrow in another movie, he may act as Ravana.”
Sadhguru also talked about Yash’s casting as Ravana and said, “Yash is a handsome man.” To this, Namit also added, “Yash is a very handsome man, and a very talented superstar in the country and incredibly loved. We want to show all shades of Ravan, his devotion, his depth, which only Yash can do.”
Ranbir Kapoor Turns Vegetarian For Ramayana?
In September this year, it was reported that Ranbir has decided to adopt certain lifestyle changes for Ramayana. Reportedly, the actor is focusing on a strict sattvic diet, early workouts, and meditation to embody the spiritual discipline of the character. He has not only quit alcohol but also turned vegetarian.
Ramayana Part 1: What’s The Update?
Reportedly, the makers have already wrapped up the edit of the first instalment of the film. Earlier this month, Pinkvilla reported that Ramayana makers will soon begin work on the film’s VFX and are planning to focus on it for the next 300 days.
“While the shooting for Ramayana: Part One was wrapped up way back in June 2025, director Nitesh Tiwari has locked the edit for the first instalment. They have frozen the run time, and locked the line-up for the saga. The first round of VFX is also done, and the team has now taken the final edit for a prolonged round of post-production,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.
Ramayana will be released worldwide: Part 1 on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027.
