Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’ was officially announced by the makers on his 60th birthday (2nd November). The title reveal teaser showed SRK in an all-new-avatar- with silver hair and ear accessories,
and it left fans intrigued about his character. Hours after the title reveal, King Khan attended a fan meet in Mumbai, during which he shared major details about his character in King. Shah Rukh Khan revealed that his character in the film is ‘very dark,’ and has been thoughtfully written by Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh.
Shah Rukh Khan Shares Deets About His Character In King
In a video from the fan meet, Shah Rukh Khan is seen talking about his King character. “This distinction has been created by people- hero, villain. In my early career, I did ‘Darr’. Which, by today’s standards, might be considered villainous or like a stalker. And I was in ‘Don’, I was in ‘Anjaam’, I was in ‘Baazigar’- I played the ‘bad’ guy. I just feel that if we don’t do something interesting in a film, then the hero just comes in, sings two songs, fights, and leaves,” he said.
“The character of King is very interesting. Siddharth and Sujoy Ghosh have written it with a lot of love. And it has a lot of evil in it. He’s a killer. He kills people,” said Shah Rukh Khan. He further added that he believes it is important for him to play diverse roles. “But for storytelling, it’s very important that heroes like me play different roles: some inspiring, some comic, some romantic. So that’s what I’m trying to do now. I do a big, good film in 1–2 years. Because I also know that making films has become very difficult now. So films should be made carefully so that I don’t let people down,” he said.

Further sharing details about his character in King, SRK said, “So it’s not to say whether it’s a villain or not. Yes, he is a very dark character, a grey character. And I think it will be very interesting. He is very ruthless. All the lines in it (title reveal video), more or less, reflect that character. So I hope you love it. That doesn’t mean what he is doing is something you should do too.”
