Mumbai’s monorail halted mid-journey on Monday morning due to a technical glitch. The rail got stuck at a bridge near the Wadala area of the city. At 7:45 am, all 17 passengers in the train were rescued.
The passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. The stranded monorail was towed by another monorail.
As per the latest update and statement shared by MMRDA, the monorail services have resumed now. The train is functioning normally on both lines.

Rajesh Ananda Bhojane, Ward Councillor of Ward 175, Republican Party of India (Athawale) told ANI, “…The train heading to Wadala halted. The passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. The Fire Brigade came later and started their operation. Monorail officials are saying that it was a supply issue…I urge the Government to resolve this recurring issue…”
Red Alert In Mumbai
As per the nowcast warning issued today at 8:30 pm, a red alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts of Maharashtra. IMD Mumbai has forecasted intense to very intense spells of rain & thunderstorms accompanied by lightning with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph.
Mumbai woke up to incessant rain on Monday morning and the city is experiencing waterlogging and slow traffic during peak office hours. The showers, continuing overnight, accumulated water on tracks at Kurla station on the Central Railway route and Bandra on the Western Railway network.
As per the officials, the local trains are also running behind schedule.
Between 8:30 am on Sunday and 5:30 am on Monday, Colaba received the highest rainfall at 88.2 mm, followed by Bandra 82 mm and Byculla 73 mm, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Mahul Tata Power station reported 70.5 mm rain, while Juhu received 45.0 mm. Santacruz and Mahalaxmi recorded relatively lower rainfall at 36.6 mm and 36.5 mm, respectively, an IMD official told PTI.
