The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the draft electoral roll for Tamil Nadu following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Voters have been given a one-month window
to verify their details and submit claims or objections before the final roll is published. According to the ECI, the draft roll aims to improve the accuracy of electoral data by identifying deceased voters, duplicate entries and those who have permanently shifted residence.
Tamil Nadu SIR: How Can Voters Check Their Names In The Draft Rolls?
Voters can verify whether their names appear in the draft electoral roll through the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tamil Nadu. The Election Commission said that reasons for deletion, if any, will be clearly indicated to ensure transparency. Voters can also check whether their names have been marked as “absent”, “shifted” or “deleted” as part of the SIR process.
