Salman Khan’s upcoming film Maatrubhumi, which was earlier titled Battle Of Galwan, appears to have run into fresh trouble. The film, which was initially expected to release in April this year, was postponed
earlier, and the makers are yet to announce a new release date.
While there have been multiple reports about the film undergoing changes and reshoots, a new report now claims that Maatrubhumi is facing an issue with the Central Board of Film Certification.
Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Facing CBFC Trouble?
According to a report by NDTV, the CBFC has withheld the clearance certificate for Maatrubhumi until further notice. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding the reported certification issue.
Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the film was being reshot after the makers were allegedly told not to use the word “China” in the movie. These reports, too, have not been officially confirmed.
Maatrubhumi Release Date Yet To Be Announced
Maatrubhumi was originally scheduled to release in April this year. After the postponement, reports claimed that the Salman Khan-starrer could arrive in theatres in August, around the Independence Day weekend.
However, the makers have not yet announced the film’s revised release date. They have also not issued any statement addressing the latest reports about the CBFC withholding its clearance certificate.
Fans of Salman Khan have been eagerly waiting for updates on the film, especially since the project has already gone through a title change and release delay.
Apoorva Lakhia On Changing Battle Of Galwan Title To Maatrubhumi
The film was earlier titled Battle Of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi. Speaking about the title change, director Apoorva Lakhia had earlier told Hindustan Times that the decision was not sudden.
“Changing the title may feel sudden to SK sir’s fans, but it was never an overnight decision. From the start, we had registered two titles: Battle Of Galwan and Maatrubhumi. As we went through the journey of making our film, we realised it was never just about a battle. At its heart, the film is about humanity, empathy, and the silent battles our soldiers fight,” he said.
The filmmaker further explained that the new title reflected the emotional core of the story better.
“Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace captures that emotion and sacrifice far more truthfully. It reflects the soul of the story, preserving humanity even in the face of conflict. There’s also a song in the film by the same name, and the love it has received from audiences made the title feel even more right,” he added.
For now, all eyes remain on the makers of Maatrubhumi for an official update on the film’s certification status and new release date.
