The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has confirmed that a seven-kilometre alternative stretch on the Pataudi Highway will be operational by 31 August.
This under-construction segment is part
of the ambitious 46.1 km Pataudi Highway project, designed to improve connectivity between Gurugram, Pataudi, and Rewari.
At a total cost of Rs 950 crore, the project promises not just faster travel but also improved road safety and infrastructure.
Why Is This New Route Important?
Currently, the main Pataudi Road passes through Harsaru, Hayatpur, and Wazirpur, areas notorious for bottlenecks and heavy traffic, particularly during peak hours. The new alignment will bypass these choke points, offering faster and smoother travel for both passenger and commercial vehicles.
With traffic from Pataudi and Farrukhnagar expected to shift to this route, congestion along the existing Harsaru–Hayatpur–Wazirpur corridor should ease significantly.
Project Highlights
The Pataudi Highway project is an extensive one, boasting 81 culverts, 23 vehicular underpasses, one railway overbridge, and two flyovers. Later additions to the scope – including 10 extra structures – pushed the completion date to 31 December for the entire stretch.
As per Hindustan Times, Yogesh Tilak, NHAI Project Director, confirmed that most of the work between Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur is complete, with six flyovers fully built except for one awaiting the relocation of a high-tension powerline. The remaining work is in the finishing stages.
Benefits
This highway will also benefit residents of 27 villages along the route, improving access to markets, schools, and hospitals. The alternative stretch will serve as a vital link for commercial traffic, reducing delays and enabling faster freight movement between Haryana’s industrial hubs.
The highway will connect to the Dwarka Expressway near Sector 88B through a flyover, enabling direct access from Dwarka to Rewari and Pataudi without navigating the busy Hayatpur and Wazirpur chowks. Commuters will also have the choice of using underpasses for NH48 or surface roads towards Basai and Dwarka.
