Veteran actress Shabana Azmi poured her heart out in a touching birthday tribute to her husband, the legendary screenwriter Javed Akhtar. In an Instagram post, she celebrated his 81st birthday by highlighting
their enduring bond since 1984.
“Salgirah Mubarak Jadu (Happy Birthday Magic),” she wrote, sharing a portrait image of Akhtar.

Azmi, known for films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, Chalk n Duster, Ishk Ishk Ishk, and Faslah, also spoke to news agency ANI about her husband’s special day on Saturday.
“From the core of my heart, I wish him good health (Unki sehat humesha achchi rahein). May he continue to work with the same passion and enthusiasm as always, and continue to win people’s hearts,” she said.
Javed Akhtar And Bollywood
Javed Akhtar was previously married to Honey Irani. The couple have two children, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. Winner of five National Awards, Javed Akhtar is known for his unparalleled contributions to Hindi cinema.
His collaboration with fellow screenwriter Salim Khan has given Bollywood some of its most memorable films. Popularly known as Salim-Javed, the iconic duo have scripted several commercially and critically acclaimed classics, including Zanjeer, Deewaar and Sholay.
Javed Akhtar’s distinguished career has also been recognised with two of India’s highest civilian honours: he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2007.
About Javed Akhtar
Born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, he is the son of renowned Urdu poet and film lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar and teacher-writer Safia Akhtar. Javed Akhtar comes from a lineage of seven generations of writers. His maternal uncle was the respected Urdu poet Majaz. His grandfather, Muztar Khairabadi, is considered an influential figure in Urdu poetry. Javed Akhtar’s own work spans three distinct areas: scriptwriting, lyricism, and poetry.
He is also a respected social commentator and activist. In 2010, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha. He played a key role in the Copyright Amendment Bill, ensuring fair royalties and recognition for lyricists and music composers.
