If one had to sum up filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and actor Pallavi Joshi’s Mumbai residence in a few words, it would be spatial elegance with a touch of artistic chaos. The couple recently opened the doors
of their home in an episode of Curly Tales: Sunday Brunch With Celebrity.
A sea-facing haven with timeless art
Sharing a glimpse of her personal attachment to the sea, Pallavi revealed that she has always lived with ocean views from her childhood home near Shivaji Park to the couple’s first apartment. Their current residence, therefore, was chosen for its sweeping sea view, which she considers indispensable.
The home, where they’ve lived for the past two years, was envisioned and designed entirely by Pallavi herself. Vivek joked that he only visited thrice during the year-and-a-half of construction, leaving the creative reins to her. His touch, however, comes through in carefully chosen details from sculptures and original Raja Ravi Varma oleographs to his extensive library.
A home of light, space, and memories
With soaring ceilings, French windows that flood the interiors with natural light, and a balcony that frames the sea, the apartment balances grandeur with warmth. Understated furniture, portraits of Hindu deities, crystal chandeliers, and a special sofa, the same one Vivek wrote all his scripts on in their old home complete the narrative of a space where both work and memories live in harmony.
What’s next for Vivek Agnihotri
On the professional front, Vivek is gearing up for the release of The Bengal Files, which brings to screen the harrowing events of the 1946 Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots. The film, exploring the violence and its aftermath, is set to release in cinemas on 5 September.
