President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to impose “substantial additional tariffs” and export curbs on the advanced American technology and semiconductors in retaliation for what he described as an “attack”
on US tech companies with digital taxes by several countries.
He accused the nations of imposing such taxes on the US tech firms to “harm or discriminate against” the American technology, while giving a “complete pass” to the Chinese companies.
“I put all Countries with Digital Taxes, Legislation, Rules, or Regulations, on notice that unless these discriminatory actions are removed, I, as President of the United States, will impose substantial additional Tariffs on that Country’s Exports to the U.S.A., and institute Export restrictions on our Highly Protected Technology and Chips,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
