At the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, US President Donald Trump briefly set politics aside for humour, stating that he was “getting a little bit tired of politics.”
He added that he would
deliver a brief speech because he “spoke for two hours last night”. “I don’t feel like going over the same material again…”
“I’m getting a little bit tired of politics now”, he said.
The United States Republican Party and especially, Trump, are hosting a rare convention before the midterm elections in November.
While such events are traditionally reserved for presidential election years, Trump’s push to stage the costly convention ahead of the November 3 elections reflects both his unconventional campaign approach and the mounting pressure facing the Republican Party at a politically critical moment.
