While Ramayana is one of the most-awaited films of the year, moviegoers in India are now highly disappointed with the makers. Producer Namit Malhotra recently revealed that while the Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial
will hit theatres worldwide on November 6, people in India will only be able to watch the film on November 8, i.e. on the occasion of Diwali. This has left netizens disappointed, with many calling the move ‘worst decision’.
“Worst decision from my side sabe acha mauka hai inke pass weekend ko use krne ka,” one of the users wrote on X. Another tried to explain how releasing a film on Diwali is not a good idea. “Mostly hindus will watch his movie ramayana and 8th November is diwali and 99% hindus will not miss lakshmi pooja to watch this disaster remake,” the user wrote.
“Honestly, this is a little disappointing. 😔 #Ramayana releasing in India two days after the worldwide release feels surprising, especially for a film of this scale and cultural significance. When Will Ramayana Release In India?
Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra recently was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of his Prime Focus Studio – Phase 1 at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai, when he clarified that while the worldwide release date of Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial is November 6, in India, the film will hit theatres two days later, i.e. on November 8.
“It (Ramayana) will release in India on Diwali,” he told NDTV and then added, “We are releasing internationally (on November 6) because the international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, which is the 6th of November. But (in) India, currently, we are targeting the Diwali release.”
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash as Ram, Sita and Ravan, respectively.
