US President Donald Trump on Monday announced a new trade order targeting countries that do business with Iran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that any country trading with the Islamic Republic
of Iran will face a 25 per cent tariff on all business conducted with the United States.
Trump said the order is “final and conclusive” and will take effect immediately. He did not provide further details on enforcement or exemptions.
“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive. Thank you for your attention to this matter!,” read Trump’s post on Truth Social.
The announcement comes amid violent protests in Iran, where people are seeking freedom from the current regime led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
