A female software engineer from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow has died under mysterious circumstances in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah, with her family alleging dowry harassment, physical and mental abuse, and a premeditated
killing by her husband and in-laws.
The deceased, identified as a BTech graduate in computer science, was working as a software engineer. Her father, Sher Ali Khan, has filed a complaint at Chinhat police station in Lucknow, accusing her husband Mohammad Aamir Khan and his family members of demanding dowry and being responsible for her death, India Today reported.
As per the report, Aiman Khan was married to Mohammad Aamir Khan in April 2025 in Lucknow. Soon after the wedding, Aamir allegedly demanded an SUV car and expressed anger that another car was not registered in his name.
Sher Ali Khan accused his son-in-law of breaking Aiman’s mobile phone and subjecting her to abusive behaviour over the issue.
In the complaint, the victim’s father claimed that soon after the wedding, Aamir left for Saudi Arabia. In June 2025, Aiman was called to Jeddah, where she was allegedly subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment by her husband, his brother, and two brothers-in-law.
The complaint claimed that she was repeatedly pressured to bring Rs 20 lakh from her parents’ home and was threatened with death if the demand was not met.
In October, Aiman returned to India and narrated her ordeal to her family. Her father said that he spoke to the accused, who assured him the harassment would stop. On this assurance, Aiman returned to Jeddah. However, the family alleged that the abuse continued.
The complaint further stated that Aiman was denied food, forced out of the house, and prevented from returning to India. Her passport and residence permit were allegedly taken away, while her father continued sending money online. On December 17, after a WhatsApp conversation with his daughter, Sher Ali Khan suspected something was wrong. The next day, repeated calls went unanswered.
A neighbour later visited the residence in the presence of Saudi police and found Aiman dead. A family member, Shahnawaz, travelled to Saudi Arabia on December 21. The family has alleged that Aiman was pregnant and that her death was staged as a hanging to make it appear like a suicide. Her body is being brought to Lucknow.
Chinhat police station in-charge Dinesh Mishra said a case is being registered based on the father’s complaint and that the matter is under investigation.
