The United States has agreed to temporarily waive Iran’s oil sanctions during negotiations as part of the new peace proposal, according to a source cited by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
The agency, citing
a source close to Iran’s negotiating team, reported that Washington’s latest proposal included a temporary waiver of sanctions on Iran’s oil sector.
Iran has demanded the removal of all sanctions against the country as part of the US commitments. However, the US has proposed a waiver of OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions until a final understanding is reached, as per the report.
Iran’s Response To US Peace Proposal
Meanwhile, Iran has sent its response to a new US proposal sent via Pakistani mediation. “As we announced yesterday, our concerns were conveyed to the American side,” foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told a news briefing.
Iran’s Fars news agency on Sunday said the US had presented a five-point list, which included a demand for Iran to keep only one nuclear site in operation and transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to the United States. However, Washington refused to release “even 25%” of Iran’s frozen assets or pay any reparations for war damage, it added.

A fragile ceasefire is in place after six weeks of war that followed US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran, but talks mediated by Pakistan have stalled and US President Donald Trump has repeatedly indicated that the war might resume soon.
The US has urged Iran to dismantle its nuclear programme and lift an effective blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, which normally carries one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supply. Iran has demanded compensation for war damage, an end to a US blockade of Iranian ports and a halt to fighting on all fronts, including Israel’s war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social at the weekend that “the Clock is Ticking” for Iran, adding that “they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”
