West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed confidence that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will secure a two-thirds majority in the ongoing Assembly elections, even as she accused central
forces and observers of intimidation during polling.
Addressing reporters, Banerjee flashed a victory sign and said her party was headed for a decisive win. “I will get two-thirds majority, they will get defeated everywhere… TMC is winning,” she said.
Alleges Excesses By Central Forces
The Chief Minister alleged that CRPF personnel and central observers were targeting voters, including women and children. “The CRPF personnel and central observers are beating people, they have not even spared women and children. Since last night, they have started atrocities,” she said.
Banerjee also claimed that several TMC supporters had been taken into custody. “How many of our people have they taken into custody. This is contempt of court, I have never seen such democracy,” she added.
