Awarapan 2 box office collection: Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has turned its first weekend into a strong box office run, with the film collecting Rs 31.20 crore gross in India on Sunday. The film earned
Rs 4 crore overseas on day 3, taking its total international collection to Rs 12 crore for the opening weekend. With Rs 98.10 crore from India, Awarapan 2 has now reached Rs 110.10 crore worldwide in just three days, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark and giving Emraan Hashmi one of his biggest box office successes.
The Sunday figure came after a bigger Saturday, when the film earned Rs 40.50 crore. While the third day saw a 23% drop, Awarapan 2 still remained ahead of its opening-day collection of Rs 26.40 crore even after the Independence Day holiday. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Awarapan 2 has earned Rs 98.10 crore gross in India in three days. The film also marks Emraan Hashmi’s return as Shivam Pandit, the role he first played in the 2007 film Awarapan. Almost 20 years later, he has returned to the character in the sequel.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 also features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. The supporting cast includes Puran Gabbi, Anirudh Rawal, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
Emraan’s return as Shivam has also been a major talking point around the film. News18 gave the film 3 stars. An excerpt from the review praised the actor for showing the character as someone shaped by years of pain rather than simply recreating his younger version from the first film. The review read, “Emraan Hashmi remains the soul of Awarapan 2. He doesn’t try to recreate the younger Shivam from 2007; instead, he plays him as a man who has lived with his pain for nearly two decades. In him, you find that exhaustion which works beautifully for the character. Emraan often lets his eyes and expressions communicate what the dialogues don’t. And when Shivam finally snaps, the transition from wounded man to ruthless fighter feels convincing.”
With the film already close to the Rs 100 crore mark in India after three days, the opening weekend has given Awarapan 2 a strong base.
