Earlier, the IMD issued an orange alert in the national capital, forecasting a sharp fall of 8-10 degrees in maximum temperatures on May 30. The rain brought relief from a punishing heatwave, where temperatures in Delhi soared between 44°C and 46°C over the past 24 hours.
The weather office also issued a yellow alert for Sunday, indicating that similar situations are likely to continue. Conditions are expected to gradually ease from June 1, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures climbing back toward the 36-39°C range by June 2 and 3.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious of localised severe weather, including lightning, hail and gusty winds.
