At 2:30 am, when most cities are fast asleep, one late-night food order sparked a heated online debate about entitlement and the boundaries of doorstep delivery. A video shared by a Zomato delivery agent
enraged many as it showed him eating a customer’s cancelled order after a dispute over delivering food upstairs.
Posted on Instagram by the delivery partner, the clip has divided social media, with users debating who was at fault.
According to the delivery boy, he reached the location at around 2:30 am and asked the customer to come downstairs to collect the order. The customer allegedly refused, yelled at him over the phone, and insisted that the food be delivered at his doorstep. When the delivery partner declined to go upstairs, the customer cancelled the order.
Once the cancellation went through, the rider was left with the food, which included biryani, gulab jamun and side dishes. He decided to consume it. That’s not all, he even recorded the incident and explained his side of the story in the video.
Speaking directly to the camera, the delivery agent said the customer spoke to him disrespectfully. Expressing his frustration, he said, “It’s 2:30 at night and we’ve brought your order for you. At the very least, show some shame, we are delivering food to your home.”
The video has since sparked intense discussion online. While many users supported the delivery agent, calling out rude customer behaviour, others argued that doorstep delivery is exactly what customers pay for.
Internet Divided Over ‘Doorstep Delivery’
One user commented, “Bhai doorstep delivery yehi hoti h aapko usko ghr pe hi dena chiye wo niche kyu aaye, customer handling delivery charges and premium prices convenience k liye hi deta hai. Banda khud se adjust kre toh theek, but aap bhi apna job hi kar rhe ho, isme uski koi galti nhi.”
Another echoed the same sentiment, “Many times I’m on office calls, and I order food so that I can squeeze in some time between breaks. After charging delivery and convenience fees, you can’t be expected to run around during delivery.”
On the other hand, a section of social media lauded the man for his decision to eat the food instead of delivering it. The comments read, “Bahot sahi kiya bhai,” and “If customers show little humanity, nothing happens.”
Mute Blinkit Delivery Agent’s Inspiring Video
Previously, a contrasting video involving a Blinkit delivery agent won hearts for an entirely different reason. In the viral clip, the delivery agent was seen struggling to communicate with a customer over the phone while trying to locate the address. Unable to speak, the delivery agent approached a nearby resident who later shared the video on Instagram.
Realising the agent’s difficulty, the man took the phone and spoke to the customer himself, calmly explaining the situation and asking for clear directions. The customer initially believed they were speaking to the delivery agent until he clarified that the Blinkit driver was mute and needed help.

Throughout the exchange, the delivery agent waited patiently, watching the conversation unfold. Once he received the correct directions, he quietly thanked the man who helped him and headed off to complete the delivery.
