Kareena Kapoor Khan’s love for coffee has been well documented. The actor has been snapped multiple times leaving her home in Bandra, looking casually chic or fabulously glam, and with a coffee cup in hand.
She has also shared her love for coffee in several interviews and even on Instagram.
So it is safe to say Kareena Kapoor is a coffee lover, and it is something she can’t do without.
Recently, a clip from an episode with actor Aditya Roy Kapur from her talk show, What Women Want, is making the rounds of the internet. During the casual podcast, the two actors got talking about their morning routines, and Kareena shared how she begins the day.

She took a moment to respond to Aditya’s question: “What is my morning routine?”
Kareena said, “Okay, that is a good question. I mean, what you said – I should not be doing that. But yeah, I have coffee in the morning on an empty stomach.”
Aditya Roy Kapur reacted calmly and offered his take,“But if it does not affect you, it is fine.”
Kareena went on to explain that while she does not eat a full meal, but has a few nibbles: “[I eat] soaked almonds or something before, not like a big breakfast. But that is enough.”
The two also discussed the idea of having a few bites before drinking coffee. Aditya shared, “They say even if you eat something, like, have five bites of something before that coffee, it is fine.” Kareena added, “So then I have that. That is my morning routine.”

When asked to share his morning routine, Aditya shared, “I try to drink water before anything else. For the last year or two, I have stopped looking at my phone as soon as I wake up. In the first half hour, I don’t look at it. I noticed that it would get me into stuff I didn’t want to get into as soon as my eyes opened, interacting with the world, work and all.”
He also went on to share, “I eat before I drink my coffee. That’s one good thing because drinking coffee on an empty stomach had led to strife, acidity, etc.”
Why is drinking coffee on an empty stomach bad?
The idea that drinking coffee on an empty stomach is bad for you might be a modern day myth. It has also left the research community divided. Some believe that coffee creates higher incidents of acidity, while others believe it is just a stimulant that perks you up. Coffee affects every person differently.
“IN general, it’s a myth that drinking coffee before breakfast is dangerous,” said Bonnie Jortberg, PhD, RD, nutritional scientist and associate professor of family medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus told Health.

“Most people should not have an issue with drinking coffee on an empty stomach other than maybe having a little bit of extra stomach acid,” she added.
In fact, according to a study by the European Society of Cardiology, there might be some benefits to drinking coffee in the morning. The research was led by Dr Lu Qi, from Tulane University, New Orleans, and they found people who drink coffee in the morning have a lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and a lower overall mortality risk compared to all-day coffee drinkers.
A report by heallthline.com suggests that only people who have a sensitive stomach will feel the negative effects of a morning coffee. A small proportion of people, who are extremely sensitive to coffee and regularly experience heartburn, vomiting, or indigestion – the frequency and severity of these symptoms remain constant regardless of whether they drink it on an empty stomach or with food.
