Director B Subhash Recalling Mithun Chakraborty ‘Almost in Tears’ on Set
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the veteran director, who gave Chakraborty his first commercial success, expresses his joy over the actor’s big win. “I saw the national media reporting that the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been given to the ‘Disco Dancer’. It feels like our film has won this huge honour (laughs). I sent him a message, and he replied, saying that he’s grateful for everything I’ve done for him. We share a great relationship,” says Subhash, who also directed Chakraborty in Taqdeer Ka Badshah.
Talking about why he chose to cast Chakraborty—who still wasn’t widely known at the time—in Taqdeer Ka Badshah, Subhash says, “I cast him in the film despite our producer Ram Dayal not being very keen on it. But I told him that Mithun was very different from the other actors. His face and personality were unique.” It was during the shooting of this film that Chakraborty confided in Subhash, expressing his concerns that his career might not take off the way he wanted.
Ranbir Kapoor work front:
The actor will be seen with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated 2026 film ‘Love & War’. After filming in Mumbai, the team is set to shoot for about 15 days in Mhow, a town rich in military history that perfectly suits the film’s pre-independence era setting.
Mhow, also called Dr Ambedkar Nagar, is located near Indore and was founded in 1818. Known for its British army base, the town was once the Military Headquarters of Warfare and still hosts important Indian Army training centres. This historic location offers authentic artillery and military backdrops that match the film’s period look. A source said, “The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions.”
The film was officially announced in January 2024 via a signature poster featuring the lead trio—Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film marks Alia’s second collaboration with Bhansali after the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi and Ranbir’s reunion with the director after his 2007 debut Saawariya. Details of the plot are still under wraps, but anticipation around the film continues to grow with every update.
Allu Arjun Work Front:
Allu Arjun will next be seen in Atlee’s AA22xA6, co-starring Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur. The film is aiming for a worldwide theatrical release in late 2026 or early 2027, across multiple languages.
