A 22-year-old domestic worker died under suspicious circumstances inside a house in Green Field Colony of Faridabad, Haryana, prompting a police investigation and a postmortem examination to ascertain
the exact cause of death.
According to police, the young woman, identified as Soma Khatoon, had been working as a cleaner at the residence of Rakesh Gujral for several years. Late at night, her family received a phone call informing them that she had suddenly fallen ill and died shortly after allegedly consuming popular instant noodles and ice cream.
Her body has been kept at BK Hospital for postmortem, and officials said the actual cause of death will be confirmed only after the report is received. Investigating officer Durga Prasad said the police were informed by the hospital about the death and have initiated proceedings under Section 174. Further action will depend on the findings of the postmortem.
The victim’s mother, Manorba, said her daughter was not suffering from any illness. She claimed the house owner told her that foam started coming out of Soma’s mouth soon after she ate popular instant noodles and ice cream, following which she collapsed. Soma was the youngest among her siblings, which include four daughters and one son.
