Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is already courting controversy much like what happened during the release of its first part. In the latest update, the makers of the upcoming film recently dropped the promo of the first song
from Jailer 2 which is titled Ala Bolelo. Featuring Rajinikanth and Shamna Kasim, the promo has some Malayalam words which has made netizens furious. Why? Because Keralites accuse the makers of getting the pronunciation of Malayalam words wrong.
Jailer 2 Song Controversy
Ala Bolelo, the first song from Jailer 2, has been composed and sung by Anirudh Ravichander, with lyrics penned by Arunraja Kamaraj. Niranjana Raman, Aparna Harikumar and Deepthi Suresh have also lent their voices to the song.
The promo opens with Anirudh singing lines in Malayalam before shifting to Shamna Kasim, who is seen dancing in a traditional kasavu saree. The song appears to follow the template of Manasilaayo from Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, which also celebrated its Malayalam connection through Manju Warrier and arrived around Onam. The full version of Ala Bolelo is scheduled to release on August 21.

Some fans fumed over the Malayalam pronunciation in the promo. “Dear Tamils, please don’t include Malayalam in your songs or dialogues unless it’s pronounced correctly. Mispronouncing words, especially the “la” sounds, can be really irritating to Malayalis and may feel disrespectful to our language. This is NOT Malayalam,” wrote one X user.
Some viewers were even left wondering whether Anirudh was actually singing in Malayalam or simply singing gibberish.
“Here, Tamil songs only don’t have correct pronunciation of la,La, Zha, na,Na etc. brother. It has gone to another level that nothing feels like Tamil. So, we are in the same boat,” said another.
“Hire a lyric writer and singer who knows malayalam,” commented one Malayali.
Another wrote, “As a Tamil, I completely agree. They should’ve atleast hired a Malayali singer. I hate it when someone handle other languages poorly without any effort for authenticity.”
One X user claimed, “dude…. it sounds like gibberish not malayalam!”
