Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her record ninth Union Budget on Sunday, amid much geopolitical turmoil, economic volatility and trade war. Besides the focus on possible changes in income
tax slabs and rates, different sectors are looking to get some relief, especially export-oriented industries, which have borne the brunt of US tariffs.
On the morning of Union Budget presentation, the stock market gained momentum and was trading higher in morning trade. After fluctuating in early trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex later bounced back and climbed 272.23 points to 82,542.01 in morning trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty edged higher by 66.9 points to 25,387.55.
As Nirmala Sitharaman’s Union Budget speech progresses, News18 will update the lists of what gets dearer and what gets cheaper for Indian consumers.
