Paresh Rawal has finally addressed the ongoing speculations surrounding Hera Pheri 3. In a recent interview with The Lavari Show, the actor put all rumours about the film being stalled to rest. The National
Award-winning actor confirmed that the much-awaited third instalment of the popular franchise will “definitely” be made, but also clarified that the delay has nothing to do with him.
Rawal claimed that the hold-up is due to a “technical issue” between Akshay Kumar and the makers of the film. Dismissing reports about legal trouble affecting the project, the Padma Shri recipient remarked that claims of Akshay suing him for Rs 25 crore were exaggerated. “All this that had blown up in between that Akshay Kumar has sued me for Rs 25 crores, that is all okay yaa, it’s like kachva chaap agarbatti,” he said. Rawal also stated that once the matter between the producer and Kumar is resolved, he is ready to sign on for the film.
Speaking about his iconic character Babu Rao, Rawal made it clear that Hera Pheri 3 without him would not work. He stated that attempting to make the film without Babu Rao would be a “disaster”. “But even at the cost of modesty, I am saying that if they’re going with the idea of doing Hera Pheri without Babu Ra,o then it will be a disaster,” the actor said, as quoted by Pinkvilla.
Rawal concluded by reiterating that the issue does not concern him directly and expressed confidence that the film will surely be made. “If it gets resolved between the two, I will sign the papers. It will happen 100%,” he said.
For the unversed, the first Hera Pheri film, based on the Malayalam movie Ramji Rao Speaking (1989), was an unexpected hit and went on to become one of India’s most quoted comedies. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by the late Neeraj Vora, carried forward the misadventures of Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Suniel Shetty), and the unforgettable Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Paresh Rawal). While details about Hera Pheri 3 are not known as of now, fans are excited to see the OG trio back together.
