Security was tightened at Madurai Airport on Thursday after authorities received an email threatening that a bomb had been planted inside the premises, officials said.
According to Airport Director Muthukumar,
an email claiming the presence of a bomb was received earlier in the day, following which he immediately alerted the Madurai District Collector and the Commissioner of Police. In response, teams from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Tamil Nadu Police launched an extensive search operation across the airport complex.
βAll vehicles entering the airport were subjected to strict checks by the bomb disposal squad before being allowed inside,β the director told ANI.
Sniffer dogs and bomb detection experts were deployed to carry out detailed inspections across the vehicle parking area, passenger arrival section, and other public zones within the airport.
