The key ‘Nashik Phata to Khed Elevated Corridor’ project on Maharashtra’s Pune-Nashik highway, aimed at easing persistent traffic congestion in the Chakan and Khed areas, is progressing rapidly. The technical
bidding process for this ambitious project, estimated at Rs 7,827 crore, has been completed, with three major companies, including Adani Enterprises, expressing interest.
As a result, work on the project is expected to commence soon.
Advanced Design And Key Features
Being implemented by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the project will incorporate advanced engineering features. The proposed 8-lane elevated corridor will be constructed on a single-pillar structure, minimising land usage at ground level. In addition, the existing highway beneath will be expanded from four to six lanes.
Alongside the elevated bridge, the existing highway will be expanded from four to six lanes. The 30-km project will fully segregate local and long-distance traffic, while ensuring faster and safer connectivity to key industrial hubs such as Bhosari, Moshi, Chakan, and Khed.
The project is expected to bring significant relief to lakhs of workers and entrepreneurs who commute daily to industrial zones, particularly the Chakan MIDC area, where traffic delays often stretch for hours.
A Milestone For Regional Development
MLA Mahesh Landge has played a proactive role in pushing the project forward, consistently following up with both central and state governments. Efforts are currently underway to address land acquisition challenges between Bhosari and Moshi to ensure smooth execution.
Highlighting the importance of the project, MLA Landge stated, “Under Nitin Gadkari’s leadership, this corridor will prove to be a milestone in the development of the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan regions.”
