Bigg Boss Tamil is preparing for a major shake-up as the reality show’s upcoming season promises to bring a fresh set of faces into the spotlight. This time, the focus is shifting beyond the entertainment
industry, opening up new possibilities for viewers and aspiring contestants alike.
The makers of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 dropped the show’s first promo on June 1, with host Vijay Sethupathi returning to lead the popular reality series. Along with confirming his comeback, the teaser revealed a significant format change that has already sparked excitement among fans online.
For the first time, the Tamil version of the show will introduce a “Common Man” concept, allowing ordinary people to enter the Bigg Boss house. Unlike previous editions that largely revolved around actors, influencers and television personalities, the new season aims to feature contestants from different backgrounds and professions.
The promo showcases Vijay Sethupathi making a stylish appearance before hinting at the new direction the show is taking. With commoners now joining the competition, audiences can expect a mix of real-life stories, diverse experiences and personalities that may bring a different flavour to the game.
The announcement has generated considerable buzz on social media, with many viewers expressing curiosity about how non-celebrity contestants will navigate the intense tasks, challenges and relationships inside the house.
Vijay Sethupathi, who stepped in as host from Season 8, will continue to front the show this year. Before him, the reality series was hosted by Kamal Haasan from its launch through Season 7.
The previous season crowned television actor Divya Ganesan as the winner of Bigg Boss Tamil 9. She walked away with the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of ₹50 lakh. Gana Vinoth secured the cash box worth ₹18 lakh, while Vikram and Aurora Sinclair finished as the second and third runners-up respectively.
Interestingly, Sethupathi had spoken candidly about his association with the show during a promotional event in December 2025. The actor admitted that he wasn’t particularly familiar with hosting such programmes and had not been a regular viewer of Bigg Boss before taking on the role. He also shared that he viewed reality television from a different perspective.
Away from television, Sethupathi has a packed slate of films ahead. His upcoming projects include Train with director Mysskin, Arasan alongside Silambarasan TR under Vetri Maaran’s direction, and Slumdog: 33 Temple Road, directed by Puri Jagannadh.
The actor was most recently seen in Gandhi Talks, the silent film released in January 2026. The movie, which also featured Aditi Rao Hydari and Arvind Swami, received critical acclaim and is currently streaming on Zee5.
