Dense fog in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha on Sunday morning caused a major accident on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway (NH‑9) as 10 vehicles crashed into each other, leaving more than 12 people injured, NDTV
reported.
The accident occurred near Shahwajpur Dor village in the Gajraula Kotwali police station area. Upon receiving information, police teams and ambulances rushed to the spot to assist the injured.
All the injured individuals were shifted to a nearby hospital. The impact of the accident led to traffic congestion on the highway, as vehicular movements remained disturbed for a considerable time, said the report.
The fog was so dense that drivers were unable to spot the vehicles ahead, leading to one crash after another. Later, the police used cranes to remove the damaged vehicles from the road and restore the traffic.
Meanwhile, treatment of the injured is currently ongoing at the hospital, and a probe into the incident is underway.
