Mumbai Indians are taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their 11th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season on Sunday (May 10). The match, underway at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium,

is a special one for batting superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The ongoing fixture is the 278th IPL match for both Kohli and Rohit, and they have now equalled MS Dhoni’s record for the most appearances in IPL history.

Dhoni, who is part of Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2026 squad but is yet to play a match this season, has also made 278 IPL appearances for two teams — Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant — between 2008 and 2025.

Rohit has represented two teams in the IPL — Deccan Chargers (2008–2010) and Mumbai Indians (2011–present) — while Kohli has been associated with Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the inaugural IPL season in 2008.
