Marvel’s next big ensemble film has once again become the centre of online chatter, after a viral claim suggested a major shift in its release plan. The rumour, which spread rapidly across social media,
has left fans debating whether the studio is quietly reshaping its most ambitious slate yet.
Avengers: Doomsday has been pulled into fresh speculation online after a post claimed that Marvel Studios may delay the film’s release to 2027 in order to carry out extensive reshoots. The claim quickly gained traction among fan communities, especially as anticipation builds for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is expected to be one of its most expansive story arcs to date.
The rumour originated from an X (formerly Twitter) account called DiscussingFish, which stated that the studio was considering pushing the film’s release timeline and revisiting “core parts” of the project through additional shooting schedules. The post was widely circulated, prompting discussions, breakdowns, and theories about the film’s production status.
However, the claim was later confirmed to be inaccurate, with no official backing from Marvel Studios or its associated production sources. Despite this, the post continued to circulate widely, fuelled by fan curiosity and ongoing interest in the franchise’s future.
The online reaction was swift and mixed. While some users briefly believed the update, others quickly pointed out its lack of credibility. One user wrote, “even tho this is fake i deadass wouldnt mind it maybe some more time for buildup, but they ain’t delaying shit,” while another commented, “you had me, don’t do again.”
Even as rumours were dismissed, attention around Avengers: Doomsday continues to remain high due to its massive multiversal storyline. The film is expected to explore a reality-breaking conflict where multiple universes begin to collide through catastrophic incursions, pulling together characters from different timelines and superhero teams.
At the centre of this chaos is Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who is expected to emerge as a key figure in the unfolding events. The character’s role reportedly sits between saviour and antagonist, with his actions gradually pushing the multiverse toward further instability and setting up the larger arc leading into Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to circulating details about the storyline, the film is also expected to bring together characters from the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises. The reported setup includes large-scale battles involving Sentinels allegedly under Doom’s control, alongside appearances from major heroes such as Thor, Cyclops, Reed Richards, Shang-Chi and Captain America.
Despite the online speculation around delays, the film is currently scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027, which is expected to conclude the next major chapter of the Marvel saga.
