Telugu star Allu Arjun has received summons from the Nampally Court in Hyderabad in connection to Pushpa 2 stampede and fan death case. Reportedly, the court has has issued summons to Allu Arjun and asked
him to appear in person on Monday, June 22, for a hearing.
Chikkadpally police has named Allu Arjun as Accused No. 11 (A11) in the case. The management of Sandhya Theatre has also been listed as Accused Nos. 1 to 10 (A1–A10). Besides the actor, the Nampally Court has also issued summons to 19 other accused in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident.
What Is The Case About?
On December 4, 2024, a tragic stampede broke out during the premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. Thousands of fans had gathered after actor Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre, leading to overcrowding and chaos. During the rush, a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, died due to suffocation, while her young son suffered serious injuries and was hospitalised.
Following the incident, police told PTI that neither the theatre management, nor the actor informed about the visit in advance. Hyderabad Police also registered a case against Allu Arjun, members of his security team and the management of Sandhya Theatre under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alleging negligence and inadequate crowd-control arrangements.
A week after the incident, i.e. on December 13, 2024, Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad City Police in connection with the case. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail later the same day. The actor expressed grief over Revathi’s death and announced financial assistance for the affected family.
Later, Allu Arjun was also named as an accused in the chargesheet filed by the Hyderabad Police.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Allu Arjun will soon be seen in Atlee’s Raaka. The film will also star Deepika Padukone in the lead. Raaka is also expected to feature Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor in key roles. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm the same.
