Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the ‘Seva Jyoti’ event to mark his 25 years in public service, said that “our society has been divided along voting lines for the sake of politics”. His remark came a day
after Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi held a dramatic protest a Akashbhavan to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas has been the foundation of good governance for me. Our country has faced a major tragedy: society was divided along vote-bank lines for the sake of politics,” said PM Modi. “If water does not reach the fields, who suffers? Are farmers of only one caste affected by this? If there is no electricity, does darkness prevail in the homes of only one community? The answer to all these questions is ‘no’. If the problem affects everyone, the solution must also be for everyone. That is why we linked good governance (sushashan) to ‘saturation’. Saturation means ensuring every beneficiary is included. No eligible person should be left out, no rightful beneficiary should be left behind, and no one should be able to usurp another’s rights,” he said.

JOURNEY OF 25 YEARS
In a poignant statement addressing the ‘Seva Jyoti’ program held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the national capital to mark the completion of his 25 years of continuous service as the head of government, the Prime Minister expressed profound gratitude, acknowledging every person and incident that shaped his journey.
PM Modi said, “Speaking as the head of the government — this continuous journey of 25 years — people view it as an achievement. But how do I see it? For me, this is not a matter of personal glorification, nor is it the occasion for it.”
“25 years ago, at the age of 50, I had spent my time serving tribal communities in the forests and living amidst the mountains, eventually choosing the path of organizational work within the Bharatiya Janata Party. My political report card reflected only the work of an organizational worker,” he said.
“I had been involved in elections, yet I had never contested one myself. Had I desired to shine in electoral politics, I could have entered the arena long ago; but that was not my temperament. I never even stopped to consider what I would become in life or what my future held. This was because the upbringing and values instilled in me since childhood taught me to live my life for a mission, not for personal ambition,” said the PM.

LESSONS LEARNT
PM Modi further elaborated on the lessons learned from various experiences, both positive and challenging.
“Whoever brought me victory taught me to be humble; whoever made me fall taught me to stand back up again. Well-wishers encouraged me, and critics taught me to delve deep within myself. Whoever supported me showed me the power of trust; whoever opposed me made me understand the power of democracy,” he said.
“I have never felt that I am alone. There are countless swayamsevak who are guardians of India’s cultural soul, with one sole purpose: to serve Bharat. They live by this spirit and remind themselves every moment: “We are sevaks. We are servants of humanity.” I respectfully salute every Swayamsevak and Karyakarta who continues to serve the nation with commitment and devotion,” he added.
PM Modi cited specific instances that contributed to his learning, including the 2001 Bhuj earthquake which “taught me to remain steadfast in reconstruction”; the Chandrayaan mission that “taught me to rise from failure”; and the Corona pandemic which “made me realize the importance of the nation’s collective consciousness.” He also acknowledged the media for inspiring him “to move forward amidst bitter-sweet experiences.”
The Prime Minister emphasised that his service to the nation, rich in cultural heritage and great thoughts, has always provided strength.
“From the Vedas to Vivekananda, the nation that has continuously practised great thoughts, the nation whose cultural heritage spans thousands of years, the nation that restored humanity’s faith in mankind—while serving such a nation, I have never once felt alone,” he affirmed.
PM Modi further underscored that the day was not merely for memories but for renewing a solemn promise for the future. “This day is about reiterating that promise; it is a day to express that resolve which says, ‘We will definitely achieve it.’ We will achieve it; we will do it, we will do it, we will do it,” he pledged, setting the tone for the nation’s developmental journey towards 2047.
