Anne Hathaway had a bit of a stumble on the New York sets of The Devil Wears Prada 2, but she handled it with the kind of charm only she could pull off. The Oscar-winning star was in the middle of shooting
a scene when one of her heels snapped, causing her to slip down a set of stairs. What could have been an awkward moment quickly turned into a reminder of Hathaway’s easygoing nature as she dusted herself off, laughed at the mishap, and kept the cameras rolling. Fans watching from the sidelines captured the incident on video, and the clips have since been making the rounds on social media, showing the actor smiling, joking, and even reassuring the crew that she was perfectly fine.
The 42-year-old star, reprising her role as Andy Sachs in the much-anticipated sequel, was dressed in character when the accident occurred. Photographs and videos from the shoot show her in a black pleated skirt paired with a sheer plaid blouse layered over a tank top, styled with studded black strappy heels and oversized sunglasses.

Footage circulating online reveals Hathaway slipping and landing on the steps, with her hair falling across her face. The fall appeared unscripted, as the actor ended up on the ground with one leg bent beneath her. Rather than interrupting production, she quickly got back to her feet, lifted her arms with a smile, and declared, “I’m fine!”—a bagel still in hand.
Crew members rushed to check on her, but Hathaway brushed off the moment with laughter. She embraced some of the team before resuming the shoot. Additional photos captured her leaning playfully on a crew member for support while balancing in the broken heel, and later hobbling down the street in good spirits.
The mishap has only added to the excitement surrounding The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is set to release on May 1, 2026. Directed once again by David Frankel with a script by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film reunites Hathaway with Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, reprising their beloved roles as Andy, Miranda, Emily, and Nigel. The sequel will also feature new cast members, including Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Rachel Bloom, and Simone Ashley.
The original 2006 film, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, became a cultural phenomenon and grossed $326.7 million worldwide.
