An India-bound LPG tanker, Green Salvi, has begun its journey through the Strait of Hormuz and is expected to exit by early morning, sources told CNN-News18 on Friday.
The vessel is carrying over 46,000
metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which will contribute significantly to India’s domestic cooking gas supplies, the source added.
The source further added that Green Salvi is leading a convoy of three Indian LPG carriers through the critical waterway, marking the seventh India-bound vessel to transit the chokepoint since the West Asia war began.

The tanker has received clearance from Iranian authorities, with the IRGC Navy facilitating safe passage by designating the vessels as friendly nation shipping, in coordination with diplomatic channels between Tehran and New Delhi.
The vessel is currently navigating a southern route closer to the Omani coast, following a pattern seen in recent safe transits that avoid the northern lane typically used under Iranian guidance. Two other unnamed Indian LPG carriers are also set to pass through the Strait in the coming hours.
All three tankers are expected to proceed safely towards Indian ports once they clear the Strait, with no incidents reported so far.
