Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s remarkable IPL 2026 campaign came to a heartbreaking end on Friday night as Rajasthan Royals crashed out of the tournament following a defeat to Gujarat Titans in the second qualifier
in Mullanpur. The loss ended RR’s season, while GT booked their place in the final, where they will face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday.

However, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill stole the spotlight with a brilliant century, leading from the front in a comfortable seven-wicket victory that secured his team’s place in the final.
Sooryavanshi Continues To Dazzle
In a tournament packed with some of the finest T20 talent from around the world, Sooryavanshi emerged as its brightest stars. Despite being only 15, he fearlessly took on world-class bowling attacks and amassed a staggering 776 runs in his first full IPL season, earning widespread acclaim for both his aggression, consistency and fearless approach.
What made his campaign truly exceptional was the manner in which he scored his runs.
Sooryavanshi finished with an astonishing strike rate of 237.31 and smashed a record-breaking 72 sixes – the most by any batter in a single IPL season. The gap between him and the rest of the field was significant, with Abhishek Sharma finishing second on the six-hitting charts with 43 maximums, followed by RCB captain Rajat Patidar with 41.
Sooryavanshi ended his memorable season with one century and three scores in the nineties, underlining a breakthrough campaign that firmly established him as one of the tournament’s standout performers.
