Delhi captain Rishabh Pant and Mumbai’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shardul Thakur will all miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy clash between the two cricketing centres of the country.
According to The Times of India,
Jaiswal recently underwent an endoscopy and is still not completely fit after being hospitalised for food poisoning a few weeks ago, while Thakur is recovering from a calf injury he picked up during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“It’s a problem which has persisted with him (Jaiswal) since he was hospitalised after Mumbai’s last game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in Pune, where he was afflicted by a severe bout of food poisoning,” the newspaper quoted a source as saying.
Jaiswal and Thakur could return when Mumbai play in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals from Feb 6-10.
Meanwhile, Pant strained his side during the training session before the first ODI against New Zealand and has been in Bengaluru since.
“He has been undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for the last week to 10 days,” the quoted source said.
Mumbai make 2 changes for Delhi clash
Aakash Parkar is also injured for Mumbai, while spinner Shams Mulani returns to the squad after missing the last game due to health issues.
“We’ve chosen the best team, with a good combination of youngsters and senior players. Without the big names, our team has been performing brilliantly. I’m really happy with the performance of our youngsters. There are two changes in the side for the match versus Delhi. Shams Mulani replaces Atharva Ankolekar, while D Suryansh Shedge has replaced Aakash Parkar. We’ve recalled Shedge because he has performed consistently well for the Mumbai Under-23 team,” he added.
Mumbai squad: Siddhesh Lad (C), Musheer Khan, Sairaj Patil, Akhil Herwadkar, Hardik Tampore (WK), Suved Parkar, Sarfaraz Khan, Aakash Anand (WK), Suryansh Shedge, Shams Mulani, Tushar Deshpande, Himanshu Singh, Mohit Avasthi, Omkar Tarmale, Sylvester D’Souza.
