External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday attended the G7 meetings in France, where discussions focused on global governance reforms and pressing international challenges.
During the deliberations,
Jaishankar stressed the urgent need for reforms in the United Nations, underlining the importance of making global institutions more representative and effective.
Besides strengthening bilateral ties with participating nations, leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia and its wider global implications.
The External Affairs Minister stressed the need to build resilient supply chains, particularly in the face of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. He also highlighted challenges faced by the Global South, especially in ensuring energy security and access to affordable resources, according to an official statement by MEA.
Meanwhile, the ongoing crisis in West Asia and its global impact were also discussed in a meeting between Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in France.
Jaishankar arrived in France on Thursday to attend the two-day G7 meeting.
During their interaction, the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral ties. In a post on X, Anand said they followed up “on the partnership our Prime Ministers advanced during our visit to India earlier this year.”
She added that the discussions also covered “trade, the situation in the Middle East, and key areas where we can deepen cooperation, including critical minerals, agriculture, and education.”
