Incessant rain and landslides have disrupted the normalcy in several ways. A 50-km long traffic jam on the Chandigarh-Kullu highway stranded multiple vehicles on Thursday. As per the officials, several parts
of the highway are blocked due to landslides.
As per a report by NDTV, hundreds of trucks carrying fruits and vegetables for Delhi-NCR markets are stranded.
Fruits, Vegetables Worth Crores Rotting
The truck drivers told NDTV that fruits and vegetables worth crores of rupees are rotting. Each truck stranded on the highway has load worth Rs 4-4.5 lakh. Just apples are worth over 50 crores, the drivers said.
These trucks are headed to Azadpur and Sahibabad mandis.
Notably, the highway is opened for all small vehicles, but truck movement is still barred.
