Suryakumar Yadav stood firm amid a dramatic batting collapse, becoming the only Indian batter to truly find rhythm as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. He faced 49 deliveries, while none of his teammates
managed to stay even 20 balls at the crease, forcing the captain to watch partners depart one after another. The slide was so severe that Arshdeep Singh came in as early as No. 9, putting on a crucial 22-run stand with his skipper, contributing four runs himself.
After the match, Arshdeep joked that his contribution to the partnership was almost on par with the captain’s. Suryakumar, playing along, quipped that the pacer may have actually done the heavier lifting and humorously hinted that a promotion in the batting order might soon follow.
“Well played. How was our partnership?” Arshdeep asked.
“The partnership was really strong. Had fun. Got some motivation too,” Suryakumar replied.
“My contribution was just a little too lacking,” the pacer accepted.
“No, you only contributed,” SKY joked.
“But the intent I showed after walking in.”
“Really unbelievable. When you smashed that four, the game changed from that point on,” the captain added.
“I guess they thought that even I am hitting, which means you’ll hit more,” Arshdeep doubled down.
“100 per cent.”
“That’s where the game changed.”
“You’ve earned a batting position now,” Suryakumar added.

How Suryakumar Yadav Saved India?
Expectations of a high-scoring start were quickly dashed after U.S. captain Monank Patel chose to field, triggering an unexpected top-order collapse. Abhishek Sharma fell first ball, and Shadley van Schalkwyk then ripped through the lineup with three wickets in five deliveries, leaving India struggling at 46 for 4. Promising starts from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma fizzled out, while Shivam Dube fell without scoring. Attempts by Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel to counterattack also failed.
Suryakumar, however, rebuilt the innings, reaching a 36-ball fifty and then smashing 21 runs in the final over to give India a defendable total.
With the ball, Mohammed Siraj struck early, taking two wickets in quick succession, while Arshdeep Singh added another as the U.S. slipped to 31 for 3 in the Powerplay. Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Milind Kumar briefly revived hopes with a 58-run stand, but once it ended, India regained full control to claim the win.
