The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited the annual interest for FY2025-26 into members’ provident fund (PF) accounts. Many EPF subscribers have reported seeing the interest entry
in their passbooks from July 15 onwards.
If the interest is still not reflected after the update process is completed, you can raise a grievance through the EPFiGMS portal or contact your employer or the nearest EPFO office. Here’s how you can check whether the interest has been credited to your EPF account.
How to check EPF interest credit online
The easiest way to check your EPF interest is through the EPFO passbook portal.
Step 1: Visit the EPFO passbook portal
Go to the official EPFO passbook website.
Step 2: Log in using your UAN
Enter your Universal Account Number (UAN), password and the captcha code. Your UAN must be activated and linked with your mobile number.
Step 3: Select your Member ID
After logging in, choose the Member ID linked to your current or previous employer.
Step 4: Check your passbook
Your passbook will display all transactions, including employee contribution, employer contribution and the annual interest credited. Look for the latest entry for FY2025-26 interest.
How to check EPF balance through UMANG app
EPF members can also use the UMANG mobile application. Open the app and go to EPFO services. Select View Passbook, log in using your UAN and OTP sent to your registered mobile number, and check the latest entries in your PF account.
How to check EPF balance through SMS
Members who have activated their UAN can also get their PF balance through SMS. Send the message: EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899. You will receive an SMS with your EPF balance and the latest contribution details. If you want the information in another language, replace ENG with the language code such as HIN for Hindi or TAM for Tamil.
How to check EPF balance through missed call
EPFO also offers a missed call service.
Give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number.
You will receive an SMS with your PF balance and the latest account details. This service works only if your UAN is activated and linked with your Aadhaar, PAN or bank account.
What if the interest is not visible?
If the FY2025-26 interest is not yet showing in your passbook, there is no need to panic. EPFO updates interest in phases, and it may take some time before all accounts are updated.
You can check your passbook again after a few days. If the interest is still not reflected after the update process is completed, you can raise a grievance through the EPFiGMS portal or contact your employer or the nearest EPFO office.
Who is eligible for EPF interest?
Every EPF member whose account is active and has eligible PF contributions during FY2025-26 will receive interest at the rate declared by EPFO for the financial year. The interest is calculated on the monthly running balance and credited annually after the government notifies the rate.
